NSW Lotteries has confirmed that a lottery player from Bondi, Sydney scooped the main prize in a lottery twice in less than a week. The Sydney man in his 40s was literally stunned speechless when he was told of his second windfall.
The man first picked up $1,020,487 on a Monday, May 7th and on Saturday the 12th, was rewarded with another $1,457,834.
The thrilled winner said that it was "too good to be true" after he got wind of his second jackpot prize. He was one of 14 Division One winners in the $20 million Lotto Superdraw that took place on May 12th, following a win just five days earlier when he scooped more than $1 million in a System 11 prize.
One in Two Million Chance
Lottery organizers have estimated that the chances of winning the lottery twice in one week are just less than one in two million.
Speaking for NSW Lotteries, Matt Hart said: "We don’t know of anyone else who has won twice in a week. We have had people win twice in their lifetime, but not twice in a week. It is very unusual and unique."
Plans for Double Lottery Windfall
When asked what he plans to do with his incredible win, the man stated that without a doubt he was "not going to be stupid with it". However, anyone who has ever dreamed of winning the lottery also has a bucket list, and the winner will no doubt start crossing items off his.
First off, he will buy real estate in Sydney for investment purposes, so that the money serves him well throughout his lifetime. He also plans to buy a brand new car and, according to the man, "a holiday in Honolulu goes without saying!"
